Trip Itinerary

Stop #1 - Traditional Winery
You’ll be picked up at your hotel and be driven in a luxury car to the first winery. It is only a 1h drive from Santiago de Compostela. You’ll discover a boutique winery specialized in personalized and limited edition wines. You’ll visit a traditional Galician house with its old granary and wine press and will be able to walk among the vineyard. After the visit, leaded by the owners, you’ll taste the wonderful Albariño wines they produce paired with some appetizers.
Stop #2 - Modern Winery
After this amazing first stop, that you will love without any doubt, you’ll be driven to a second winery. This one is a large and famous Albariño winery surrounded by a vast and beautiful vineyard and which pearl (apart of the wine, of course) is the beautiful building itself with marked influence of French Château and who also makes a nod to the Galician Indian houses. You’ll taste some of the wines they produce paired with some appetizers.
Stop #3 - Gourmet Lunch
After this two visits you’ll be driven to Cambados, were you’ll have a delicious seafood meal in one of the best restaurants of this lovely city while you'll still enjoy wines of the region.
Stop #4 - Cambados City Tour
In the afternoon you will discover the city of Cambados, with our guide, who will show you the main areas and explain you some interesting highlights. Cambados is considered one of the most beautiful, admired and important tourist destinations in Galicia and was declared as Cultural Interest Asset in November 2001. Cambados is also known as the “Albariño Wine Capital” and everything in the town reminds us that. It is the starting point of the Wine Route, that includes the twenty two wine cellars belonging to the D.O Rias Baixas. One of the oldest food and wine festivals in Spain, the “Albariño Wine Festival” is celebrated in Cambados every first weekend of August. This festival is declared of National Tourist Interest.
Stop #5 - Return to your accommodation
After this unique experience in Rias Baixas you’ll be driven back to Santiago de Compostela, where you’ll arrive around 6:30 pm.

Reviews

What a Fantastic Day! Thank you Devinus! I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed the day with Devinus - what an amazing experience. We made a last minute reservation and Benedicte so kindly coordinated everything, from setting up the wine tours to making sure lunch met my dietary restrictions. All wineries tours couldn't have been better with private tours and wonderful wine tasting - all the guides were great!. Ultimately, Benedicte was the perfect tour guide. She helped with the translation and made the entire day so enjoyable. If you're looking to check out Spain outside of the main city, DeVinus is the only way to do so. I recommend then 100 times over. Thank you so much, Pablo, for an unforgettable day!

"On the Devinus Web site, Pablo and Benedicte promise a wonderful day in "El Corazón del Duero", and they deliver that and more. We spent a very special day with Pablo, who treated us with warmth, courtesy, expertise, and enthusiasm. The day included a lovely private lunch and spectacular view of the Ribera del Duero from Peñafiel Castle. Normally, we prefer do to our own driving and explore on our own, but, after reading the other posts on TripAdvisor, we decided to take a chage a DeVinus Wine & Food Tours... and we were very glad we did! It was as interesting and fun as it was relaxing...a true "vacation from our vacation", as Rick Steves likes to say. We recommend Devinus highly. Please note they are very amenable to special requests to customize destinations within the region. We also felt the price was more than worth the experience. So, go, relax, and enjoy!"

"My friends and I were visiting Madrid for a few days (girls trip) and decided to go wine tasting while we were there. Benedicte came highly recommended from a trusted source, and we were very pleased. She was responsive and thorough with planning from the beginning and was a pleasure to be around. She took us to 3 beautiful wineries, one of which we had an incredible meal at. I would highly recommend Pablo if you are interested in wine country in Spain."

Rias Baixas - Key Information

Galicia and Rias Baixas

Certainly paradise could be there. In the southwest of Galicia, the Rías Baixas display their charm in blue and green, the colors of a sea that penetrates into the land. Beaches, islands, vineyards, trails, manor houses, churches, seafood, camellias, spas... Landscapes with history, small fishing towns and cities to enjoy any time of year. Rías Baixas is synonymous of the best cuisine in Galicia. Fish and seafood with the taste of the authentic that – of course – is best enjoyed when accompanied with typical wine of this land, wine with the D.O. Rías Baixas. For many, one of the best white wines in the world. Rías Baixas is a privileged region for vine-growing. Its climate, landscape, soils and indigenous grape varieties combine to make up the area’s wine-growing ecosystem. These characteristics define the vocation of the DO Rías Baixas to produce high quality wines. According to the Winkler Scale, which measures the average potential quality of a vine-growing area, the five sub-zones making up the Rías Baixas appellation (Condado do Tea, O Rosal, Ribeira do Ulla, Soutomaior and Val do Salnés) are located within zones of the highest wine-growing quality. All of them have opted to grow the indigenous grape varieties of their zone, particularly Albariño, which represents over 96% of the production. These indigenous varieties cope well with the challenging climatic conditions peculiar to each zone and impart genuine quality and a sense of place to wines that have a distinctly Atlantic character.
