Reviews

“Personal and professional wine tour: with DeVinus Wine & Food Tours Madrid we went on an excellent wine tour, which was personal, flexible, and entertaining as well as professional. We were happy to be able to design the tour so that it fitted our needs with good input from our guide, who was at all times friendly, flexible and knowledgeable about the region and the wine. The tour also included a fantastic lunch and is all in all a great way to see the rural Spain and get away from the city for a day. Very recommendable for both private and business tours!"

Madrid Province - Key Information

Perfect blend of Tradition and Innovation

Madrid is the capital and largest city of Spain. It is the third-most populous municipality in the European Union after Greater London and Berlin, and its metropolitan area is the third-most populous city by urban area in the European Union after Paris and London. But Madrid is not only a modern and cosmopolitan city, there is also another Madrid, a few miles far from the city centre, where thanks to excellent people,  the land continues providing the fruits as it has for the last 1000 years. Excellent wines under the flag of Vinos de Madrid Appellation of Origin A.O. ("Denominación de Origen" D.O. in Spanish) and excellent products keep the essence of the things well done. The Madrid DO is divided in the three sub-zones, and each one reflects the diversity of its wine portfolio. They create a semi-circle around Madrid's southern suburbs. The climate, although overall continental, is variable, and differences in soil composition across the DO underline the importance of the sub-zones. There are a number of other grape varieties permitted in every sub-zone: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah for reds, and Moscatel, Parellada, Viura and Torrontes for whites. Slowly but surely, the region is shedding its image as a bulk-wine producer and gaining a reputation for good-quality, good-value offerings.
